Job Description
We are seeking a Boilermaker/Welder to join our Durban/ Jacobs branch who will be responsible for joining metal components using various welding techniques to fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures and equipment. This role involves interpreting blueprints and specifications, selecting appropriate welding methods and materials, and performing quality checks to ensure welds meet required standards. The Welder will also be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Cutting and joining metal parts for fabricating or repairing production parts, equipment, buildings, machinery, and other articles using various welding techniques.
• Monitoring the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of Material.
• Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing, and bathing in acidic solutions and perhaps even adding protective or decorative finishes.
• Inspecting equipment and structures following project completion to ensure compliance with industry and safety standards.
• Building of platforms and other various still structures.
• Support Production and Maintenance department perform various equipment checks and inspection, attending to breakdowns and performing set/scheduled PMs and WOs.
• Working and communicating effectively with Operations and other departments to assure understanding of full job scope, priority, and timing for repairs.
• Repairs flange leaks, including tightening or replacing bolts, flanges, and gaskets.
• Installs pipe, including flanges, unions, joints, gaskets, and nozzles.
• Moves materials, tools, equipment, and sub-assemblies using forklifts.
• Sets up work site with barriers, signs, tape, or flags.
• Prepares schematic drawings, sketches, reports and permits to reflect activities.
• Develops and maintains an orderly and efficient approach to assignments.
• Maintain disc grinder and perform all cleaning and grinding of metals.
• Operate various manual and automated welding equipment's for welding work.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills Requirement:
• N6 with Trade Tested Qualification or associate diploma/degree in a technical field with a completion of a formal Boilermaker apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
• Welding certifications (e.g., AWS, ASME) specific to the welding processes required for the job (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, etc.).
• OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour safety certification.
• Ability to cut, fit, and weld metal components according to specifications.
• Knowledge of metal properties and characteristics.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in using various hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
• Ability to operate cranes, forklifts, and other heavy equipment (certification may be required).
• Thorough understanding of safety regulations and procedures related to boiler making and welding.
• Ability to work safely in confined spaces and at heights.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including measurements, angles, and tolerances.

Physical Requirements:
• Mobility: Ability to move around freely in a manufacturing environment. This may involve walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling for extended periods. Ability to navigate stairs and ladders (if required by the work environment).
• Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy objects (up to 30kg) occasionally. This may include tools, equipment, and components (like Motors). Ability to push or pull heavy objects with assistance (e.g., moving equipment on a dolly).
