Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Pipe Welder for projects in Cape Town, starting January 2026, performing high-quality welding of piping systems and structures according to project specifications, drawings, and safety standards.

You will work in industrial, petrochemical, and high-risk environments, ensuring all welding activities meet quality, safety, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Weld pipe, plate, and structural components according to project specifications and drawings
• Ensure accurate alignment, joint integrity, and fit-up of piping systems
• Maintain a 0% weld failure rate with minimal rework
• Follow all HSE, ISO, and QCP standards
• Collaborate with supervisors, QA/QC, and project teams to meet project goals
• Keep work areas safe, clean, and organized
• Complete weld logs, joint tracking sheets, and other documentation accurately
• Report hazards, deviations, and non-conformances promptly

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Weld Quality & NDT Pass Rate: All welds meet quality standards
• Fit-Up Accuracy & Alignment: Maintain correct joint preparation and alignment
• Productivity: Complete welding tasks on time to meet project schedules
• Safety Compliance: Follow all HSE, hot work, and PPE requirements
• Documentation: Accurate and timely completion of weld logs and reports

Requirements

Qualifications:
• Recognized welding certification (Red Seal or equivalent) in SMAW, GTAW, GMAW
• Recent ASME IX or AWS D1.1 certification (6G position)
• Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry certificates
• Permit-to-Work training
• Valid driver’s license

Experience:
• 2–5 years as a Pipe Welder in industrial or petrochemical environments
• Experience coordinating with scaffolding, painting, civil, quality, and safety teams
• Petrochemical, fuel terminal, or high-risk industrial experience preferred
• Team coordination and mentoring skills are a plus

Skills & Knowledge:
• Strong welding skills and pipe fitting knowledge
• Ability to read and interpret technical/isometric drawings
• Knowledge of ISO-compliant QCPs, HSE, and safety protocols
• Attention to detail and high personal integrity
• Strong time management and teamwork skills
