Job Description
Install: Distribution boards (DB boards) Plug points & light switches Lighting systems Isolators Circuit breakers Conduits & trunking 2. Reading & Interpreting Plans Read electrical drawings and layouts Follow building plans and wiring diagrams Measure and mark installation points 3. Cable Work Pull, lay and connect cables Install cable trays and conduits Perform jointing and termination 4. Equipment Installation Install and connect: Geysers Stoves Air conditioners Motors Pumps Backup systems (inverters / generators) 5. Testing & Inspection Test installations for: Continuity Insulation resistance Earth leakage Voltage correctness Ensure compliance with safety standards like: South African Bureau of Standards (SANS 10142) 6. Fault Finding Diagnose electrical faults Repair damaged wiring Replace faulty components 7. Compliance & Certification Ensure installation meets regulations Prepare for inspections Assist in issuing: Certificate of Compliance (COC) 8. Maintenance Work Perform preventative maintenance Upgrade old electrical systems Replace outdated equipment 9. Safety Responsibilities Follow lock-out procedures Use PPE correctly Ensure safe work environment Prevent electrical hazards 10.
