Welder II

Status: Non-exempt (hourly)

Position Summary

The welder is responsible for the construction of various products primarily focusing on welding and fabrication techniques. The welder will follow the process below in every welding scenario (I, P, W, C, I)
• Identify materials to be welded and appropriate welding/ fabrication method.
• Prepare and fit materials for welding/ fabrication using grinders, clamps, tape measures, etc.
• Weld materials within the WPS parameters per the engineering weld callout.
• Clean welded materials.
• Inspect welds to ensure quality standards and engineering weld callouts have been met.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
• Operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision
• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
• Set up components for welding according to specifications
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
• Align components using calipers, tape measures, etc. and clamp pieces
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
• Able to determine that weld meets ASME specifications

Education and Experience
• The ideal candidate will have a steady hand and great attention to detail
• Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential
• Proven experience as welder
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (GTAW, GMAW, FCAW)
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
• Minimum one year welding and fabrication experience
• Must be able to pass on-site welding test*

Welder I – 0-5 years’ experience

Welder II – 5-8 years’ experience

Senior Welder– 8+ years’ experience

Master Welder – 10+ years’ experience & Cryogenic experience

Pay Rate:
$23.00 - $33.00
