Job Description
New Tech Global is currently seeking Welders for an oil & gas client in East Houston, TX.

The Welder is responsible for performing welding duties within the fabrication shop. Responsibilities include operating the various types of equipment safely and productively. The Welder will weld on items that have been fit together throughout the shop for the manufacturing, maintenance, and repair work on oilfield drilling equipment in a shop environment. This position will provide on-site support with manufacturing activities as determined by the Fabrication Foreman and the Fabrication Shop Supervisor.

This role will work under the direction of the Fabrication Shop Foreman and Supervisor.

Detailed Description:
• Ensuring the welding machine is calibrated and ready to use
• Receiving materials, parts or components issued to a Work Order
• Tack weld using multiple welding process's
• Weld and follow company welding procedures and specifications
• Able to weld pipe and structural steel items per design as required
• Ability to use a fillet weld gauge and understand weld sizes and welding terminology
• Layout and drill holes using a Magnetic Drill
• Beveling steel plates with track torch
• Ensure safe and clean appearance of fabrication shop in your area
• Meet and exceed company metrics including Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery
• Read and interpret drawings allowing manufacturing to build to the design intent
• Read and interpret Shop Work Orders
• Provide expected delivery times to the Foreman or Supervisor on all items being welded and prepared for the fabrication shop
• Mark/Stamp all items with your Welder Number per Operation Procedures to allow for traceability throughout manufacturing
• Verify that all materials and consumables meet the design and shop requirements
• Required to use squares, tape measure and more to make sure items being welded stay straight and per drawing design after welding is complete
• Ensure you are performing all actions in accordance with Company standards to include safety, conduct, and proper use of company resources
• Identify training needs required for the use of any machines
• Promptly address and resolve concerns and disputes among team members, with the goal of building a stronger, more cohesive workgroup
• Choose and process materials with precision and identify raw materials as required by Work Order
• Label materials with Heat Numbers and Part Numbers following company procedures
• Remove all sharp edges and burrs
• Properly and safely load and unload materials/parts using hoist, forklift, and manually
• Transfer all finished parts to appropriate departments
• Properly store all raw materials in the designated areas
• Must have basic tools per the Tool List supplied by the company
• All other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
• Knowledge and experience in small shop equipment
• Ability to layout and hand cut with oxy-fuel and plasma torch
• Ability to read, add, subtract and understand fractions and decimals
• Understanding of the fundamentals of Oxy-Fuel and Plasma cutting
• Ability to pass a "weld test" per the Company's Welding Procedures
• Ability to operate hand tools such as grinders, hammers and more
• Ability to work on a task both alone and with co-workers as needed to assist in daily activities and delivery requirements
• Knowledge and familiarity with industry and quality standards (ISO, API, OSHA, AWS)
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact productively with co-workers and third parties
• Ability to operate an overhead crane after certification
• Ability to lead by example and be a good mentor to junior employees
• Ability to create a safe environment and respond to emergency situations
• Maintain a professional demeanor in all situations and with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively with executives, employees at all levels, and third parties
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise
• Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and occasionally crawl during manufacturing in the shop and operational work areas
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times
• Stay alert and remain focused even during occasional extended work periods
• Demonstrate clear communication skills and ability to give, and follow directions promptly
• Must be willing to work extended schedules that will include working days; and occasionally nights, weekends and holidays and be on call after hours as needed

Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 3+ years relevant work experience, fitting or welding in a fabrication environment
• Must understand how to read and follow fabrication drawings
• Must understand fraction and decimal dimensions
• Must pass Welding Test per process

Preferred Qualifications:
• Technical training or advanced education in a relevant vocational field
• Experience with Metal Cutting Band Saw
• Experience with drilling and milling
