Job Description
Location: Parkland: LL BLK 400

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Responsible for performing advanced installation, repairs, and preventive maintenance functions on plumbing and piping systems, while adhering to safety codes and regulations to ensure that Parkland plumbing systems are operating safely and according to established standards.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education
• None.

Experience
• Must have eight years of experience in plumbing.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience
• None.

Certification/Registration/Licensure
• Must possess a Master Plumber license from the State of Texas.
• Must possess a state Medical Gas Endorsement.
• Must have a valid Texas Driver License (Class C).

Skills or Special Abilities
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in the proper use of tools, materials, and methods used in plumbing.
• Must be qualified to install and repair medical gas systems.
• Must be qualified to install and repair plumbing system components.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with Parkland employees.
• Must have a working knowledge of computerized work orders and preventive maintenance system.
• Must be able to teach and train assigned employees.
• Must be physically able to lift heavy loads, walk, stand for extended periods, and climb ladders.

Responsibilities
• Provides work leadership to Journeymen plumbers. Assists with all facets of work to ensure that journeymen plumber personnel are adequately trained and aware of workplace policies, procedures and applicable codes.
• Investigates and schedules plumbing requests for PHHS to determine what work is required. Determines work priorities and assigns work requests to appropriate personnel. Answers questions concerning plumbing systems, duties and policies.
• Inspects installation of plumbing system and fixtures installed by contractors to ensure code compliance and PHHS requirements are met.
• Inspects, repairs and installs plumbing fixtures including pipes, valves, faucets, toilets, showers, pumps, and other items to ensure that all systems are operating safely and efficiently.
• Monitors, labels and repairs natural and medical gas lines according to established procedures to ensure that piping is safe and operational.
• Adheres to established safety regulations and guidelines to ensure that repairs are carried out in an effective and safe manner.
• Assists and communicates with contractors, engineering and other Parkland staff to provide the information and support required to keep Parkland systems operational.
• Documents and maintains records of installations, repairs and preventive maintenance operations according to established policies and procedures to ensure that accurate documentation is maintained and made available for reference.
• Performs advanced preventive maintenance functions on plumbing and piping systems to ensure that the number and frequency of system failures is kept at a minimum.
• Trains and assists new and entry level workers as needed to ensure that staff members are capable of performing assigned job functions.
• Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals and mission of the Parkland.
• Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in the field of plumbing by attending seminars or workshops and reading professional journals, and integrates this knowledge as appropriate into the job.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Plumbing area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
