About the Role

Wong Hing Long Technologies is looking for a skilled Robotic Welding Operator to manage our automated welding cells. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and quality monitoring of our ABB robotic welding systems. You will play a vital role in ensuring high-repeatability and structural integrity for critical components used in the defense, automotive, and commercial sectors.

Key Responsibilities
• System Operation: Set up and operate ABB robotic welding arms equipped with Fronius CMT (Cold Metal Transfer) power sources.
• Jig & Fixture Setup: Correctly position and secure workpieces in specialized welding fixtures to ensure precise alignment before the automated cycle begins.
• Program Execution & Adjustment: Load welding programs and perform minor “touch-ups” or point adjustments to the robot’s path to account for part variations.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct visual inspections of weld beads (checking for penetration, porosity, and undercut) and use gauges to verify dimensional accuracy against engineering drawings.
• Weld Parameter Monitoring: Monitor gas flow, wire feed speed, and voltage during operation to maintain optimal weld quality and prevent equipment downtime.
• Routine Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning the welding torch, replacing contact tips/shrouds, and ensuring the wire feeder is running smoothly.

Requirements
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a welding or metal fabrication environment. Prior experience with ABB or Fanuc robotic systems is highly preferred.
• Technical Skills:
• Basic understanding of MIG/MAG welding processes (Fronius CMT experience is a plus).
• Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and welding symbols.
• Familiarity with the use of hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Education: NITEC / Higher NITEC in Welding, Mechanical Engineering, or Precision Engineering.
• Soft Skills: Strong focus on safety protocols, high attention to detail, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting.

Why Join WHL?
• Specialized Technology: Gain hands-on experience with Cold Metal Transfer (CMT) technology, a leader in high-end thin-gauge welding.
• Diverse Projects: Work on everything from heavy structural frames to delicate aerospace components.
• Career Development: Opportunities to advance into Robotic Programming or Welding Coordination roles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about Welder Jobs in Singapore

Q What is the minimum salary I should expect for welder jobs in Singapore in 2026?
Singapore does not have a statutory minimum wage for welders. For a concrete benchmark, the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) welding-related course pages published by SkillsFuture Singapore list welding training fees and the government’s occupational outlook resources do not set a fixed monthly wage, so employers commonly price pay by skill level, certification, and shift allowances rather than a legal floor. A practical starting point is to compare offers against the annual Employment Pass minimum qualifying salary of S$5,600 per month for non-financial services jobs, which the Ministry of Manpower applies to skilled foreign professionals, not local welders.
Q Can a foreign welder work in Singapore in 2026, and what pass is needed?
A foreign welder normally needs a Work Permit or S Pass; the Ministry of Manpower’s Work Permit rules cover semi-skilled manufacturing and construction jobs, while the S Pass minimum qualifying salary is S$3,300 per month in 2026, rising with age. If your employer is hiring you for hands-on welding work in a workshop, shipyard, or construction setting, you cannot work on a tourist or visit pass. Employers must apply for the pass before the worker starts work.
Q What qualifications do I need to apply for welder jobs in Singapore?
For most welder openings, employers ask for at least secondary-level education plus a welding certificate or proven trade experience, and the Ministry of Manpower requires foreign candidates for S Pass positions to earn at least S$3,300 monthly in 2026. If you are applying for a Skills Framework-linked welding role, Singapore’s official workforce framework places emphasis on job-specific competencies such as shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, and welding inspection basics. The safest approach is to bring documentary proof of your welding processes, materials worked on, and years of hands-on experience.
Q What documents are needed to apply for a welding job and work pass in Singapore?
For a welding job application, employers typically ask for your passport biodata page, certificate copies, resume, and employment references; for a Singapore work pass application, the Ministry of Manpower requires the employer to submit the application online and keep supporting documents ready for verification. Common supporting documents include education certificates, training records, and proof of past employment, and all foreign documents should be in English or officially translated. A Work Permit or S Pass application cannot proceed without the employer’s sponsorship and approval.
