This position reports to the Risk and Security Manager

Your responsibilities can include:

Risk Management & Security
• Assist with risk assessments, inspections, and risk register updates
• Monitor risk controls, support business continuity planning, and prepare routine risk/incident reports
• Conduct security checks, monitor access systems, support CCTV and equipment upkeep
• Assist with security incident investigations and emergency response coordination
• Facilitate training, awareness programs, and contractor/visitor security briefing

Facility & Safety
• Conduct facility and workplace safety inspections
• Monitor environmental conditions, fire safety, utilities, and workplace hazards
• Support emergency evacuation drills, waste management, and sustainability initiatives
• Coordinate repairs and compliance inspections with facilities management

ISO Standards & Compliance
• Assist with internal/external audits and maintain ISO- related documentation
• Monitor regulatory compliance and support inspections
• Manage document control systems, SOP updates, and compliance communication

SHERQ Functions
• Conduct safety inspections, toolbox talks, and contractor briefings
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; ensure corrective action follow-up
• Maintain safety records and monitor PPE use and compliance
• Lead and support emergency drills, safety committees and performance reviews
• Conduct occupational health monitoring (noise, dust, ergonomics, hygiene) and coordinate medical surveillance.
• Daily security checks (100%) and <1-hour incident response
• Regular safety and risk register updates
• Internal audit support completion (100%)
• Document control accuracy (95%+)
• Incident investigation closure and compliance checklist completion
• Training completion rates and audit scores.

Qualifications and experience:
• Grade 12 + Diploma/Certificate in Risk, Safety, Security, or related field
• SAMTRAC or equivalent qualification
• ISO 9001 foundation course, basic security training
• Familiarity with CCTV, access control, regulatory compliance, and audits
• 2–3 years' experience in SHERQ, risk, or security; plus 1+ years in facility/workplace safety
• Knowledge of ISO management systems and incident investigations
• Technical: Risk assessment, investigations, inspections, security systems, MS Office, reporting
• Soft Skills: Communication, attention to detail, problem-solving, teamwork, organization
• Knowledge: Health & safety regulations, ISO systems, emergency response, environmental awareness, quality management basics.
