Job Description
We are looking for an energetic, ambitious, motivated, resilient and passionate individual to join AVBOB as a General Worker (Cleaner) based at the Preparation Centre (Pretoria).

Your role will be to maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment in all designated areas, including standard office spaces and specialised facilities such as the mortuary and Aquamation Centre. This role requires adherence to strict hygiene protocols, sanitary standards, and sensitive operational practices to ensure the dignity, safety and compliance of all facility environments.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
• Perform daily cleaning of floors, furniture and surfaces by using approved cleaning materials and applying routine cleaning practices to produce a tidy and hygienic office environment.
• Service bathroom facilities by refilling supplies, disinfecting surfaces and cleaning toilets to produce clean, odour-free and fully stocked sanitation spaces.
• Empty and sanitise dustbins by collecting waste, disposing responsibly and wiping surrounding areas to produce clean communal spaces free of contamination.
• Provide visitor refreshments by receiving visitor requests, preparing beverage items and serving them appropriately to produce a welcoming and professional client experience.
• Clean mortuary floors and working areas by sweeping, disinfecting and mopping according to hourly cleaning schedules to produce a safe and infection-controlled environment.
• Maintain cold room hygiene by applying disinfectant, mopping every hour and sanitising surfaces to produce sterile conditions that meet regulatory standards.
• Clean and wash stretchers and stretchers covers by applying approved detergents and following sanitation procedures to produce dignified and contamination-free equipment.
• Refill mortuary hygiene solutions by checking solution levels, mixing according to safety instructions and replenishing containers to produce consistent availability of sterilisation supplies.
• Record cold room temperatures three times daily by reading the temperature gauge, logging results and reporting irregularities to produce monitored and compliant storage conditions.
• Clean the Aquamation facility daily by disinfecting floors, equipment and surrounding areas to produce a sterile and safe working environment for specialised operations.
• Dispose of cleaning solutions used in the Aquamation area by following approved chemical disposal instructions to produce safe environmental compliance.
• Prepare and hand over of medical waste to approved supplier
• Monitor refreshment supplies by checking stock levels and notifying the manager when supplies are low to produce timely replenishment.
• Refill refreshments by arranging required stock and ensuring consumption areas remain neat to produce a consistently serviced refreshment area for staff and visitors.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:
• ABET Level 4
• Ability to read and write
• Must be able to speak and understand English
• 1–2 years cleaning experience
