About UsAvesoro is a leading gold mining company operating in West Africa, dedicated to operational excellence, safety, and responsible mining practices.As part of our commitment to operational reliability and energy efficiency, we are seeking an experienced Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and manage the operation and maintenance activities of PV panels, inverters, string boxes, combiner panels, AC/DC distribution panels, substations, and medium-voltage connection systems located within the solar power plant site.Monitor plant production performance on a daily, monthly, and annual basis; perform Performance Ratio calculations and loss analyses.Track inverter, string, and transformer-based production data through the SCADA system; analyze abnormalities and failure trends.Ensure the identification and resolution of DC and AC side failures, insulation problems, string faults, inverter failures, and communication issues.Carry out inverter maintenance, software control, and commissioning activities.Coordinate the operation of MV switchgear, protection relays, substations, and power transmission line connections.Perform and report panel hotspot analyses using thermal imaging inspections.Conduct insulation resistance tests, grounding measurements, IV curve tests (where applicable), continuity tests, and functional tests.Prepare periodic maintenance plans and organize work schedules for field teams.Monitor inventory levels of spare parts, inverter equipment, DC connectors, fuses, surge arresters, and site consumables.Ensure the implementation of occupational health and safety rules within the solar power plant site; conduct risk assessments and field safety inspections.Supervise installation and commissioning activities related to capacity expansion projects, additional panel installations, or system modification works.Prepare production reports and provide regular reporting to the department manager.Coordinate with mechanical, operations, and energy management departments to ensure uninterrupted production.Provide technical training and guidance to field technicians.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering is required.Experience:Minimum 3 years of field operation and maintenance experience in Solar Power Plant projects.Practical experience with PV system design, DC/AC side equipment, and inverter systems.Knowledge of string and central inverter systems (experience with Huawei, ABB, or similar inverter brands is considered an advantage).Experience with SCADA systems, data analysis, and performance monitoring.Knowledge of MV systems, substations, and power distribution infrastructure.Familiarity with protection relays, MV switchgear, and basic power quality concepts.Ability to read and implement single-line electrical diagrams, string layouts, cable routing plans, and technical documentation.Proficiency in using multimeters, clamp meters, insulation resistance testers, grounding measurement devices, and thermal cameras.Experience in fault analysis, root cause analysis, and preventive maintenance planning.Experience in team management and field organization.Strong technical reporting and documentation skills.Technical Skills: Strong understanding of solar power generation systems, electrical infrastructure, inverter technologies, SCADA monitoring systems, MV distribution systems, protection equipment, and maintenance planning methodologies.Soft Skills: Strong communication, coordination, leadership, and reporting skills. Ability to work effectively in multicultural and remote site environments. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational reliability and safety.Additional Requirements: Advanced English reading, writing, and technical communication skills are required.
