Senior Welder – Steel & Aluminum, Doha (5+ yrs)

As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum basic wage for migrant workers including welders is QAR 1,000 per month under Cabinet Resolution No. 13 of 2017, effective through 2026. Employers must provide accommodation valued at minimum QAR 300 per month equivalent and food allowance of QAR 200 monthly if not in-kind. Entry-level welder contracts approved by MOL start at QAR 1,500 total monthly package.

Welders need employer sponsorship for a work permit applied via MOL online portal, issued for 1 month at QAR 100 fee, allowing entry on free visa. Within 2 weeks of arrival, complete medical exam (QAR 100 fee) and fingerprinting for Residence Permit (RP) valid 1-5 years renewable at QAR 200 annually. No independent visa applications allowed for welders.

MOL classifies welders as semi-skilled requiring completion of vocational training certificate in welding or high school diploma plus 2 years proven experience in MIG/TIG/Arc welding. Uncertified applicants limited to helper roles at QAR 1,000 basic wage. Qualifications must be attested by issuing authority and Qatar embassy before contract approval.

Employer submits online to MOL: passport copy valid 6+ months, 4 passport photos, attested welding certificate, CV, medical fitness report, no-objection certificate from current employer, with QAR 100 fee. Processing takes 3-7 working days for approval. Worker then receives e-visa for entry within 1 month.
