Welder

As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum basic salary for skilled welders (Category II) in the private sector is 450 OMR per month as of January 2026. This includes accommodation allowance of up to 100 OMR and overtime pay at 1.25 times the hourly rate for the first 9 overtime hours per month. Employers must ensure total compensation does not fall below 550 OMR including benefits.

Foreign welders require a sponsor-issued work permit from the Ministry of Labour valid for 2 years, followed by a work residence visa from Royal Oman Police costing 20 OMR application fee plus 5 OMR per month stamp fee as of 2026. A medical fitness certificate and police clearance are mandatory, with processing taking 5-10 working days after employer submission. No individual applications are accepted without a confirmed job contract.

Welders need at least a high school diploma or vocational welding certificate from a recognized institute plus 2 years of relevant experience in MIG/TIG/Arc welding as of 2026. Omanis require 6 months training from approved centers; expatriates must provide attested experience letters. Uncertified candidates are ineligible for skilled welder roles.

Required documents include a valid passport copy (minimum 6 months validity), attested welding certificates, 2 years experience proof, medical report from approved clinic (cost 30 OMR), and employer-submitted job contract specifying 500 OMR minimum salary. Submit via the employer's Tasheel center with fees of 10 OMR for labour clearance. Applications without attested Arabic translations are rejected.
