As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum wage for unskilled Omani workers in category 1, including packing roles, is OMR 415 per month as of Decision No. 61/2024 effective through 2026. Expatriate packing workers typically earn OMR 300-450 per month based on contract negotiations compliant with Labour Law. Overtime is paid at 125% of hourly rate for the first two hours and 150% thereafter.

Foreigners require a work visa sponsored by an Omani employer, with initial approval from the Ministry of Labour via the employer portal. The process involves MOL labour clearance (OMR 10 application fee) followed by Royal Oman Police visa issuance valid for 2 years, renewable. Packing jobs fall under non-Omanised sectors allowing expatriate hiring without quotas as of 2026.

No formal education is required for unskilled packing jobs; on-the-job training is provided under Labour Law Article 42. Employers prefer 1-2 years of warehouse or manufacturing experience for semi-skilled roles. Omani nationals under 18 need parental consent and cannot work more than 6 hours daily.

Applicants must submit a passport copy, attested educational certificates if any, medical fitness certificate from approved clinics (cost OMR 20-30), and police clearance. Employers register via MOL's e-services portal, uploading contracts stamped by MOL (OMR 5 fee). For Omanis, National ID and bank details are mandatory for payroll compliance.
