Job Description
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll be responsible for the availability and reliability of all mechanical plant on site. This is a hands-on role that combines planned maintenance, fabrication and welding, fault-finding, and continuous improvement — with plenty of variety day to day.What You'll Be DoingPlanning and executing scheduled and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipmentFabrication and welding work (Arc, MIG, TIG) including assembly of high-specification production equipmentUsing workshop equipment including lathe, mill and pressFault-finding and root cause analysis to minimise breakdowns and extend plant lifeManaging mechanical spare parts inventory and equipment refurbishmentSupporting plant shutdowns and machinery isolationAssisting in the development of Standard Operating Procedures and training of operations teamsMaintaining housekeeping standards and 5S practicesContributing to health and safety, cost control, and continuous improvement initiativesWhat You'll BringQualified Mechanical Technician — Mechanical Trade Certificate or equivalentProven maintenance fitter experience in a manufacturing or industrial environmentWelding experience across MIG, TIG and Arc processesStrong fault-finding and practical problem-solving skillsFamiliarity with SOPs, 5S, and safe work practicesComputer literacy and competent written and verbal English communicationFull NZ Class 1 driver's licenceAbility to work day and night shifts as requiredPhysically capable of manual handling up to 20kg, working at heights and in confined spacesWho You AreYou're a reliable, team-focused tradesperson who gets stuck in and takes pride in quality work.
