Electricians classified under skilled trades receive this base rate with mandatory overtime at 2 times the rate after 8 hours. The Federal Labor Law sets a maximum of 48 hours per week for electricians with at least one full rest day. Workers receive 12 days of paid vacation after the first year plus an additional vacation bonus of 25 percent of salary. Maternity leave is 84 days fully paid through IMSS.

Electricians must hold a valid licencia de instalador eléctrico issued by the Dirección General de Normas after passing the NOM-001-SEDE-2012 exam.
