As per the Delhi Labour Department, the minimum wage for a skilled plumber in the Delhi scheduled employment is ₹29,144 per month effective from 1 April 2026. This includes basic rate of ₹22,000 plus Variable Dearness Allowance of ₹7,144. Overtime is payable at twice the ordinary rate for hours exceeding 9 per day.

A minimum qualification of 8th pass with ITI certificate in Plumber trade (NCVT/SCVT) at NSQF Level 4 is required for plumber jobs in government projects. At least 1 year experience post-qualification is preferred for skilled roles. Apprentices must be 14-24 years old.

Required documents include Aadhaar card, 10th standard marksheet, passport-size photos, bank details, and medical fitness certificate. Applications are submitted online via the Apprenticeship India portal with stipend of ₹8,100 per month for ITI passed freshers in 2026. Training duration is 1 year for plumber trade.

Under the Factories Act 1948, plumbers work maximum 48 hours per week or 9 hours per day. They are entitled to 1 day paid leave for every 20 days worked and 12 days casual/sick leave annually. Weekly off is mandatory on Sunday.
