Packing Assistant

As per the Maharashtra Labour Department notification dated 1 January 2026, the minimum wage for unskilled workers including packing jobs in Zone I is ₹23,427 per month, comprising basic wage of ₹12,160 and VDA of ₹11,267. Overtime is paid at twice the ordinary rate for hours exceeding 9 per day. This applies to factories and warehouses employing such workers.

No minimum educational qualification is mandated for unskilled packing jobs under the Factories Act, 1948, as amended and integrated into the OSH Code 2020 effective 2026. Zero prior experience is needed for entry-level roles, though basic literacy for reading labels is recommended. Registration on National Career Service portal is sufficient for eligibility.

Applicants must submit Aadhaar card, PAN card, bank account passbook, two passport-size photos, and 10th standard marksheet if available during registration. For factory jobs, medical fitness certificate from registered doctor is needed post-selection. Apply online via NCS portal with these scanned documents.

Under the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code 2020 fully effective from 1 January 2026, packing workers in factories work maximum 8 hours per day and 48 hours per week with one paid weekly off. Annual leave is 15 days after 240 days worked, plus 12 days casual/sick leave. Overtime beyond 48 hours pays double the hourly rate.
