As per the Office of the Chief Labour Commissioner, the minimum wage for skilled electricians under the scheduled employment of 'Construction Workers' in Zone 1 is ₹28,500 per month (basic ₹21,000 + VDA ₹7,500) effective from 1 April 2026. This rate applies to 26 working days and includes special allowances. Overtime beyond 8 hours per day is paid at twice the ordinary rate of ₹1,096 per day.

Eligibility requires passing Class 10th with Science and Mathematics, followed by a 2-year ITI certificate in Electrician trade from a NCVT-affiliated institute. No prior experience is needed for fresher apprenticeships, but 1 year of experience is preferred for direct employment. Certification is valid nationwide under NSQF Level 4.

A Wireman Permit (Competency Certificate) is mandatory for handling voltages up to 650V, issued by state Electrical Licensing Boards after passing exams. For supervisory roles, an Electrical Supervisor Certificate requires 2 years ITI experience and exam clearance. Renewals are every 5 years with fees of ₹500-₹1,000 depending on the state.

Register on the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in with Aadhaar, PAN, bank details, and ITI certificate to apply for 1-2 year apprenticeships paying ₹7,000-₹9,000 monthly stipend. For permanent jobs, use NAPS jobs section or state employment exchanges. Submit scanned copies of 10th marksheet, ITI diploma, and experience certificates.
