Due to continued growth and expansion, J & M Murdoch & Son Ltd are recruiting experienced HGV Class 2 Drivers to join our family business and support our transport, waste management and industrial services operations across Scotland.

Our Class 2 Drivers operate across a variety of specialist vehicles and divisions including Skip Loaders, Roll-On Roll-Off (RoRo) vehicles, Tipper Grabs, Tankers, Jet-Vac units, Trade Waste vehicles and other specialist transport equipment. This variety provides excellent opportunities to develop your skills and experience across multiple operations.

Job Details

Position: HGV Class 2 Driver
Location: Neilston
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Holiday Entitlement: 28 days including statutory holidays

Working Pattern
• Monday to Friday
• Day Shift
• Typical start times from 6:00am onwards
• Weekend availability where operationally required
• Overtime available
• Overtime paid after 40 hours worked

Duties & Responsibilities
• Safely operate HGV Class 2 vehicles across various Company operations.
• Deliver, collect and transport materials, equipment, containers and waste products in accordance with operational requirements.
• Complete daily vehicle walkaround checks and report defects promptly.
• Ensure all vehicle, driver and transport compliance requirements are met.
• Complete all paperwork, electronic records and operational documentation accurately.
• Follow planned routes and schedules whilst maintaining excellent customer service standards.
• Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers and operational teams.
• Comply with all road traffic legislation, driver hours and tachograph regulations.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Positively represent the Company at customer sites and on the road.
• Work independently whilst supporting the wider operational team.
• Ensure vehicles are operated safely, professionally and efficiently at all times.

Qualifications, Licences & Skills
• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence.
• Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC).
• Valid Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Minimum 2 years commercial driving experience preferred.
• Experience operating Skip Loaders, RoRo vehicles, Tipper Grabs, Tankers, Jet-Vac units or Trade Waste vehicles would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Good understanding of driver hours, tachograph and transport compliance regulations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Good geographical knowledge and route awareness.
• Professional, reliable and safety-focused approach.

Applicants must hold the appropriate licences and legal entitlement to drive Class 2 vehicles within the United Kingdom.
