Fabricator Welder - Job Description

Working Hours & Pay
• Monday to Thursday: 6:00am - 2:00pm
• Friday: 6:00am - 12:00pm
• Pay Rate: 16.00 - 17.00 per hour (depending on experience)
• Overtime may be available
• Temp-to-perm opportunity

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Fabricator Welder to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing environment specialising in heavy steel fabrication, precision machining, and custom-built engineering solutions. The role involves working on a wide range of bespoke projects, producing high-quality fabricated components and structures to exacting standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Carry out MIG and TIG welding on mild steel, stainless steel, and other materials as required
• Fabricate and assemble large and small steel components in line with technical drawings and specifications
• Work on bespoke fabrication projects, including heavy structural items, machinery components, and engineered parts
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and fabrication instructions accurately
• Operate fabrication machinery such as guillotines, press brakes, drills, grinders, and cutting equipment
• Perform quality checks and inspections to ensure weld integrity and dimensional accuracy
• Assist with fitting, assembly, and general workshop duties as required
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times
• Work collaboratively with machinists, engineers, and production staff to meet project deadlines
• Identify and report any faults, defects, or non-conformance issues

Skills & Experience Required
• Proven experience as a Fabricator Welder within a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Strong knowledge of fabrication and welding techniques (MIG/TIG essential)
• Ability to work from technical engineering drawings with minimal supervision
• Experience working with large fabrications or heavy engineering components is highly advantageous
• Good understanding of materials, tolerances, and fabrication processes
• Ability to use a variety of hand tools and workshop machinery competently
• High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
• Strong teamwork and communication skills

Qualifications (Desirable)
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Fabrication & Welding or equivalent
• Coded welding certifications (advantageous)
• Experience working to industry standards (e.g., ISO or similar quality systems)
