About us

Gillson’s is a family-owned British-style brasserie opened Summer 2026, located in the heart of Ecclesall Road, Sheffield. We're creating a welcoming, quality-focused venue built on great food, excellent service, and a genuine love for hospitality, with a focus on refined, classical brasserie cooking.

We’re the team behind Gills & Co, a successful wine bar which opened in 2022, building on our passion and experience to bring something truly special to Sheffield’s dining scene.

Reporting to the Head Chef and Sous Chef, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You’ll help deliver consistent, high-quality dishes, maintain excellent kitchen standards, and contribute to a positive and professional team environment.

We’re looking for someone reliable, organised and passionate about cooking, who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a collaborative kitchen team.

What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment
• A strong interest in classical cooking techniques and quality ingredients
• Passion for producing consistently high standards of food
• Ability to work calmly and efficiently during busy services
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
• Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards
• A supportive and team-focused approach
• Passion for food, drink, and hospitality

• Contribute positively to pre-service preparation and team briefings

Team Culture & Development
• Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen team to maintain a positive working environment
• Support junior team members where appropriate
• Take an active role in learning and developing your skills
• Lead by example with professionalism, punctuality and a strong work ethic

• Assist with stock rotation and maintaining correct storage procedures
• Help minimise waste and support efficient kitchen organisation
• Follow cleaning schedules and daily food safety checks
• Support the kitchen team in maintaining a safe, clean and organised environment at all times
• Contribute towards maintaining a 5-star Environmental Health rating
