HGV Class 1 Driver – Hook Lift / Wagon & Drag

Location: North Manchester

Pay: £16.00–£17.00 per hour, plus monthly attendance bonus after probation

Job type: Full-time, permanent | Monday to Friday | No weekend working

We’re looking for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join our family-run wastepaper recycling business in North Manchester. This is a great opportunity for a reliable, customer-focused driver who wants steady local work, regular weekday hours, and to be part of a supportive team.

You’ll have regular daily contact with customers, so a professional manner and good communication skills are just as important as your driving experience.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 06:00–17:00.

What you’ll be doing: You’ll provide a safe, courteous, and efficient collection and exchange service for our customers, representing the company professionally at every site you visit. Your work will include collections and exchanges involving paper, cardboard, confidential waste, and occasional plastics.
• Driving a hook lift wagon & drag HGV, including Scania and Volvo vehicles
• Completing daily work safely and in line with company procedures
• Exchanging skips at customer sites
• Following road transport legislation and maintaining high safety standards

What we’re looking for
• Class 1 licence
• Experience driving a Class 1 wagon and drag vehicle
• A proven record of being punctual, reliable, and safety-conscious
• Good organisation and the ability to prioritise your workload
• Current and up-to-date Driver CPC qualification
• Forklift truck experience is helpful; a current FLT qualification will guarantee an interview for the role
