Join OSG Service Group

For more than 28 years, OSG Service Group has delivered professional security services across the healthcare, retail, education, and corporate sectors. As an SIA Approved Contractor and NSI Gold accredited company, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service while investing in our people.

We are looking for a reliable, organised, and proactive Weekend Operations Controller / Security Officer to join our Operations Team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, can remain calm under pressure, and takes pride in providing excellent support to both colleagues and clients.

About the Role

This is a unique dual-role position combining operational control room responsibilities with front-line security duties at one of our sites.

As the Weekend Operations Controller, you will act as the central point of contact for our security officers, operational managers and clients, ensuring our services continue to run smoothly outside normal business hours. Working independently from our Smethwick location, you will coordinate staffing, monitor lone worker welfare, respond to incidents, and manage operational communications using our workforce management systems.

Alongside these responsibilities, you will also be responsible for the security of the site from which you are working. As the on-site Security Officer, you will carry out regular patrols, control access to the premises, respond to security incidents, and ensure the safety and security of the site throughout your shift.

As the role is predominantly worked alone, you'll need to be confident working independently, making decisions without immediate supervision, and balancing security responsibilities with operational control duties. The nature of the role means there will be periods of administrative work alongside regular site patrols and security checks, making it ideal for someone who is organised, self-motivated and able to manage competing priorities.

Reporting directly to the Control Room Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting our nationwide security operations while maintaining a safe and secure working environment at the Smethwick site.

Key Responsibilities
• Monitor the lone worker check-call system and promptly escalate missed check-ins or non-compliance.
• Coordinate cover for staff absences and operational changes.
• Handle inbound and outbound communication from clients, security officers, managers and subcontractors.
• Maintain accurate records using our workforce management software.
• Use Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel, to support daily operations.
• Escalate incidents or operational issues to management when required.
• Carry out regular security patrols of the site.
• Control access to the premises and respond appropriately to security incidents.
• Complete site logs and incident reports accurately.
• Deliver a professional, efficient and customer-focused service at all times.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:
• Able to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Comfortable working independently for extended periods.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• A confident communicator with a professional telephone manner.
• Experienced in administration or office-based environments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Able to balance operational administration with security responsibilities.
• A strong team player who can also work effectively on their own.

Essential Requirements
• A valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guard Licence.
• Previous experience in a security role.
• Good administration and IT skills.
• Availability to work weekends and Bank Holidays.
• Flexibility to work additional weekday overtime when available.

What We Offer
• £16.00 per hour.
• Permanent part-time position.
• 12-hour day shifts.
• Overtime opportunities available during the week.
• Uncapped holiday accrual.
• Company-contributed workplace pension.
• Access to the UK's largest employee discount platform.
• Gym membership discounts.
• Specialist medical assistance.
• Health and wellbeing support, including counselling services.
• Online training and development opportunities.
• Full training and ongoing support from an experienced Operations Team.
