Job Description
Position: Licensed Journeyman (Plumber/Sprinkler Fitter)
As a Licensed Journeyman, you will carry out advanced maintenance of the TPA’s facilities and equipment. You will assume full responsibility for work schedules given and perform related work assigned, with minimum supervision. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Perform skilled maintenance, installation, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of plumbing, fire alarm, and locksmith systems across all Toronto Parking Authority facilities.
• Ensure all fire and life safety systems meet Ontario Fire Code and related legislative requirements.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and installations for regulatory compliance and internal reporting.
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to ensure proper installation and operation of systems.
• Coordinate activities and provide direction to one or more crew members as required on job sites.
• Provide input on preventative maintenance schedules and report hazards or potential code violations proactively.
• Perform related facility maintenance duties as required in support of multi-disciplinary facility operations.QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be a certified plumber with a valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification 306A license.
• Additional qualifications or certifications (e.g. Fire Alarm Technician) are considered an asset.
• Must have sound knowledge and ability in plumbing repair and maintenance of commercial/residential systems. Experience in fire alarm system inspection, installation, and repair an asset.
• Must have sound knowledge of the Ontario Plumbing Code and applicable health & safety standards for plumbing. Additional knowledge of the Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Building Code, and OHSA regulations as they apply to fire/life safety systems would be an asset.
• Must have sound knowledge and experience repairing and installing wet/dry sprinkler systems, backflow devices, sump pumps, pipe fitting, toilets, sinks, faucets and drain systems for plumbers. Knowledge of working with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems (e.g. Mircom, Notifier, Siemens) are an asset.
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, building drawings, and service manuals.
• Comfortable using diagnostic equipment and electronic testing tools.
• Able to learn and use SAP or similar work order management software.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Must have good attendance record.
• Must have and continue to be in possession of a valid G driver’s license with a minimum of 3 consecutive years driving experience, have good driving record and be insurable at preferred rates.
• Must be prepared to operate any and all TPA vehicles.

As per the Collective Agreement, Article 7.2(b), any employee with more than one (1) year’s continuous on the job service in the full-time bargaining unit may apply for reclassification provided they have completed the required four (4) month assessment period.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employees in this position will be assigned to perform other related duties as directed by the Manager, Facilities Maintenance, or their designee. Selected applicant will be required to work the 5am to 1pm shift from Monday to Friday with an on-call schedule every fourth week and must be willing to work any other shift and/or location as required.
