Working on assigned 12-hour shifts, the Security Guard will provide proactive and reactive security services in a mental health treatment environment. Responsibilities include conducting patrols, responding to incidents and coded emergencies, writing detailed reports, and interacting professionally with individuals under stress or in need of medical assistance. The role requires strong customer service skills, physical stamina, and the ability to work closely with vulnerable populations.

Essential Job Functions:
• Conduct proactive and reactive security patrols
• Respond promptly and effectively to incidents and coded emergencies
• Monitor, identify, and escalate security concerns as required
• Ensure the safety of staff, clients, and visitors
• Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to manage conflict
• Provide a visible security presence throughout the facility
• Assist with high-risk patient monitoring and security planning
• Oversee and support patient watch activities when assigned
• Write clear, accurate reports and investigate routine incidents
• Communicate concerns and incidents to the Client Service Manager
• Work collaboratively with site staff, local law enforcement, and emergency services
• Adhere to all Paladin Security and site-specific policies and procedures
• Maintain physical readiness to stand and walk for extended periods

Prerequisites:
• Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Valid WSIB-approved First Aid & CPR Level C certification
• Immunization record (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and TB skin tests 1 & 2)
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (minimum two doses; proof required)
• Proficient in English (oral and written)
• Willing to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check upon offer of employment
• Legally Authorized to work in Canada
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certification program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
