As per the Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego, the national minimum wage applicable to entry-level plumbers in Brazil is R$ 1,518.00 per month starting January 1 2026, with overtime paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate after 220 hours per month. Collective agreements in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro raise the floor to R$ 2,850.00 for certified plumbers with at least two years of experience.

As per the Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego, candidates must hold a SENAI-issued certificate of 400 hours of technical training plus 18 months of documented on-the-job experience before applying for the Carteira de Trabalho e Previdência Social annotation. No university degree is required, but proof of completion must be uploaded to the gov.br portal before the first employment contract is registered.

As per the Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego, plumbers are limited to 44 hours per week with a mandatory 11-hour rest between shifts and 30 days of paid annual leave after 12 months of service. The 2026 rules also guarantee 120 days of maternity leave or 5 days of paternity leave with full salary maintained through the FGTS system.

As per the Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego, INSS contributions start at 7.5% on salaries up to R$ 1,518.00 and reach 14% on amounts above R$ 7,507.00, while IRPF withholding begins at R$ 2,112.00 monthly with a 7.5% rate up to R$ 2,826.65. Employers must also deposit 8% of gross pay into the FGTS account every month.
