As per the Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego, the minimum wage for security guard roles in Brazil is R$1,650 per month as of January 2026. Night shift security guards receive a mandatory 20% premium bringing the floor to R$1,980 monthly. Overtime hours must be paid at 150% of the hourly rate with no exceptions for contracted firms.

As per the Ministério da Justiça e Segurança Pública, applicants must complete the 180-hour Curso de Formação de Vigilantes and hold at least a 9th-grade education certificate. No prior experience is mandated but candidates must pass a federal background check with zero criminal convictions recorded after age 18.
