Job Summary:

The Blaster is responsible for performing surface preparation of steel and other materials using abrasive blasting techniques to achieve specified cleanliness and surface profiles prior to coating or painting. The role ensures surfaces meet project specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform abrasive blasting (sandblasting, grit blasting, shot blasting) on pipes, structures, tanks, and equipment
• Prepare surfaces in accordance with project specifications and standards such as ISO 8501-1 and SSPC-SP 10
• Achieve required surface cleanliness levels (Sa 2, Sa 2.5, Sa 3, etc.)
• Ensure proper surface profile (anchor pattern) as per coating requirements
• Set up and operate blasting equipment including compressors, blast pots, hoses, and nozzles
• Select appropriate abrasive materials based on job requirements
• Inspect surfaces visually and coordinate with QC inspectors for approval
• Maintain and clean blasting equipment and tools
• Ensure proper containment and disposal of blasting materials
• Follow safety procedures, especially regarding dust control and confined space work
• Use required PPE (respirator, blasting suit, helmet, gloves, etc.)
• Coordinate with painters/coating teams for timely work completion

Qualifications:
